The Saudi authorities have stepped up preventive measures in the wake of the global rotten meat scandal which hit the Brazilian beef and poultry industry.
According to Al Jazirah, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) ordered its specialists to intensify inspection procedures at entry points.
SFDA staff were also given instructions to take samples from shipments of imported Brazilian meat, poultry and by-products to be examined in labs and ensure compliance with GCC standards.
