JAFFER Ebrahim yesterday captured the gold medal in table tennis singles for intermediate boys in the Fourth Mini Olympics.
The Al Duraz School student scored a 3-1 (-7, 3, 1, 4) win over Sayed Hasan Ebrahim in the final at Bahrain Table Tennis Association in Riffa.
Hasan Ebrahim won the bronze following a 3-0 (10, 14, 10) victory over Feroz M.
In the intermediate girls final, Dharshini topped the four-player competition with six points from three wins to secure gold. Tinu Ann of Indian School bagged silver and her schoolmate Pranita Nair bronze.
Amruta Amit of Indian School secured the primary school girls gold beating schoolmate Nayana Susan while Al Safa’s Fatima Abdulla settled for bronze.
The primary boys singles title was claimed by Angadpreet Singh of New Millennium School. He beat his schoolmate Saketh 3-0 (3, 8, 9). Aayan Pandey of Bahrain Indian School claimed bronze defeating schoolmate Manoj Subraman 3-0 (7, 9, 8).
Elsewhere, Al Hekma were crowned champions of the primary girls football tournament at Kanoo International School sports hall. The school topped the competition thanks to a 5-0 win over Indian School. New Millennium School were second and Hawar School third.
In the intermediate stage, Kanoo International School picked up their third win in as many matches with a resounding 7-0 win over Indian School in Group ‘A’.
In the boys division, Hawar stretched their winning ways in both primary and intermediate sections, with the intermediate team easing to a 4-0 win over Al Noor in Group ‘B’ at Bahrain Football Association grounds in Riffa.

Hawar also lead in the primary stage in Group ‘A’ with wins over Indian and Kanoo schools.
The 3-on-3 Basketball championships continued yesterday with the first of the secondary boys and girls matches. Sacred Heart School ‘B’ team registered a tough 3-2 win over Kanoo International School ‘A’ in Group ‘B’ at Bahrain Sports for Disabilities Federation.
In the secondary boys, Al Hekma scored a 5-3 victory over Sacred Heart ’B’ while Kanoo edged Al Hekma 6-5 in two closely-contested Group ‘E’ game at Um Al Hassam Basketball Hall.
Action in the Mini Olympics continues today with boys and girls football and 3-on-3 basketball from 10am onwards.
