PAKISTAN international cricketer Imran Nazir will be in Bahrain tomorrow on a short visit at the invitation of Pakistan Club’s Sajid Shaikh.
The 35-year-old Lahore-based cricketer will attend an exhibition match to be hosted by Pakistan Club and meet Bahrain sports officials to discuss ways to promote cricket in the Kingdom.
“He will also be visiting Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir and meeting sports management officials in Bahrain,” said Mujtaba Nazir, director-mentor of cricket at Pakistan Club.
One of Pakistan’s prodigiously gifted players, the opener was known for his aggressive style and flamboyant stroke play, particularly off the back foot.
Nazir made his debut in March 1999 against Sri Lanka in his home town Lahore and impressed immediately making a stroke-filled 64 (87 balls, 10 four, 1 six) batting at No. 3. in the drawn Test.
In all he played in eight Tests scoring 427 runs, including two centuries and one half century, at an average of 32.84.
Prolific
He was more prolific in ODIs and T20s representing Pakistan in 79 and 25 matches scoring 1,895 (average 24.61, 2 centuries and nine half centuries, strike rate 81.01) and 500 runs (average 21.73, strike rate 135.13) respectively.
But of late he has been plagued with injuries due to which he has been unable to return to international cricket.
