AL BARAKA Bank qualified for the semi-final of the RCSI-Al Baraka seven-a-side football tournament after registering a 4-1 win over Benefit yesterday at the RCSI Football Ground in Muharraq.
Hamad Nusuf completed a hat-trick while Anas Al Arbah scored once to take Al Baraka to the top of the table. Yousif Al Nefaei scored Benefit’s only goal.
Al Baraka top Group ‘B’ standings after having played all their four games, earning a full mark and achieving 12 points.
The second game in the group saw Gulf Daily News (GDN) suffer a 9-1 defeat against Rotana who picked up pace only in the second half.
The first half ended 2-1, but GDN faced a setback after their goalkeeper got injured giving Rotana the advantage to score seven times in the second half.
Amr was the man of the match scoring a hat-trick to his name, while Youssouf and Qassim added two and one, respectively.
Al Maamoun also managed to grab two goals, while Jijo scored one goal. GDN’s Mazin Rizk scored the only goal for his team.
Only one spot remains in the group for qualification for the semi-final and it will be a tough fixture next week with Investcorp, who sit in second place with six points, facing GDN, who sit in last place place. A win should see Investcorp qualify for the second round.
Places
Rotana and Benefit sit in third and fourth place respectively with three points and will go head-to-head next week. The winner will only have a chance to qualify if Investcorp fail to win their game.
In Group ‘A’, Jawad Group registered a 5-2 win over Futtaim Group, thanks to two goals from Hussain Kazerooni, and a goal each from Jawad Jawad, Sayed Taj and Hassan Al Qatari. Ahmed Fardan and Sayed Taleb scored Futtaim Group’s two goals.
Zain’s Mohammed Al Qassab led his team to a 5-1 win over RCSI after scoring a hat-trick. His team’s other goals were scored by Ahmed Fareed and Ibrahim Qassab, while Hamad Adel scored RCSI’s only goal.
The standings see Jawad Group in first place with seven points, tied with DHL, but with a goal difference of +5, while the latter have a goal difference of +2.
Close behind in third place are Zain with six points, while RCSI and Futtiam Group are in fourth and fifth, respectively.
The next fixture between Zain and DHL could decide the qualifying team, while Jawad Group will face RCSI.
