OSCAR-winning film Moonlight will be screened at the Bahrain Cinema Club tonight.
The film follows three stages in the life of a young black man as he grows from childhood to adulthood in Miami and he grapples with surviving the poverty and drugs that pervade his neighbourhood, while establishing his own identity and accepting his sexuality.
Under the influences of his drug-addicted mother, a kindly surrogate father and a conflicted best friend, the youth finds his way in life.
Directed by Barry Jenkins, Moonlight won three Oscars for Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor and Best Adapted Screenplay with five more nominations. It also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Drama, with five other nominations. It was also nominated for four BAFTA Awards.
