Asia ‘is a strategic partner’

MANAMA: Bahrain is committed to enhancing its strategic partnership with Asia, the Crown Prince said yesterday.

This is in line with His Majesty King Hamad’s vision for Bahrain’s development, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, said as he met Philippines President Rodrigo Roa Duterte at Bahrain International Circuit.

The Crown Prince said President Duterte’s visit reflects the scale to which bilateral ties between the two countries have advanced.

He praised the strong levels of co-operation in the economic, investment, cultural and education sectors, noting both countries’ commitment to increasing collaboration in areas of mutual benefit.

President Duterte expressed his gratitude to the Crown Prince for his eagerness to advance Bahraini-Filipino ties.

The President also praised BIC for its continued success in organising the Grand Prix, before wishing Bahrain further prosperity and progress.

Deputy Premier Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa attended the meeting.

President Duterte, who is in Bahrain on a two-day official visit as part of a Middle East tour, held official talks with His Majesty after his arrival on Thursday.
