MANAMA: Charles Leclerc claimed a fine win in the sprint race of the opening round of the 2017 FIA Formula 2 Championship held in support of the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir yesterday.
Leclerc triumphed in the Formula 2 sprint race, Cullen won the season-ending event of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East, and Borkovic clinched the weekend’s second race of the TCR International Series.
The Prema Racing driver Leclerc triumphed after completing the 23-lap event in 43 minutes 01.023 seconds. Luca Ghiotto of Russian Time finished as the runner-up just 1.569 seconds behind, while Oliver Rowland of DAMS took the final podium step 2.898s back.
The race wrapped up the first round of the 2017 Formula 2 season.
