GDN Online Desk

The official web page of Oman's Ministry of Education was the target of hackers yesterday, according to Al Shabiba newspaper.

“The Ministry of Education would like to report that hackers had infiltrated its home page portal,” the ministry said in a statement, adding the page had been restored.

It announced that it would take all necessary legal action to track all those involved in hacking its electronic systems accountable under the Law on Combating Cybercrime and the Electronic Transactions Law.

It reassured the public that it would work strenuously to tackle the repercussions resulting from this 'irresponsible act'.

Times of Oman newspaper said that a student might have been involved in hacking the Education Ministry web page.
