Doha: The Amir of Qatar Shaikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani received the citizens, who were kidnapped in Iraq, upon their arrival in Doha International Airport, reported QNA.
Twenty-six Qataris and their companions were kidnapped in December 2015 during a hunting trip after entering Iraq legally.
After nearly a year and a half in captivity, Qatar yesterday secured the release of 26 hostages, including members of its ruling family, in what became possibly the region’s most complex and sensitive hostage negotiation deal in recent years.
The group was kidnapped on December 16, 2015 from a desert camp for falcon hunters in southern Iraq.
