Doctors removed more than 1,600 stones of different sizes from the bile duct of an Emirati woman in Umm Al Quwain, according to Al Bayan newspaper.
A medical team led by Consultant Surgeon Dr Taher Helmi conducted the Ureteroscopic stone-removal operation, which lasted for an hour, on the patient who was later discharged.
The 27-year-old woman, who was admitted to Khalifa General Hospital in Umm Al Quwain, had been suffering for more than a year due to pain in the upper right part of her abdomen.
Doctors examined her using ultrasound imaging and discovered the stones in her bile duct.
