SEVEN feature races are on the cards in today’s horse racing in Sakhir.
The richest race of the day is for the Owners Cup for locally bred horses which carries a cash prize of BD6,000 and to be run over 2,000 metres, starting at 5.05pm.
This race has attracted the smallest field of five horses.
News Breaker, owned by Al Nasseriyeh, trained by Alan Smith and to be ridden by Brett Doyle, looks the best bet to win this race ahead of its nearest challengers Knight And Day and Snake Eagle.
Vale Do Sol, owned by Abdulla Fawzi Nass, trained b Fawzi Nass and to be ridden by Husain Makki, is the favourite to win the Shaikh Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa Cup for imported horses which carries a cash prize of BD3,000 and to be run over 2,400 metres, starting 5.30pm.
Shogun and Wakame are the second and third favourites respectively.
Shaikh Abdulla is the chairman of Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club.
The day’s action begins at 3pm with the race for the Shaikh Hamad bin Abdulla Al Khalifa Cup which carries a cash prize of BD2,000 and to be run over 1,200 metres.
Caped Crusader, owned by Al Nasseriyeh, trained by Alan Smith and to be ridden by A Rahim Jasim, is expected to win this race.

Ghafiya and Stevie G are the second and third favourites respectively.
Izmir, owned by Bahrain Racing, trained by Abdulla Kuwaiti and to be ridden by Alberto Sanna, is tipped to win the Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khlaifa Cup for imported horses which carries a cash prize of BD2,000 and to be run over 2,000 metres, starting at 3.25pm.
Broughtons Salsa and Sahara are the second and third favourites respectively.
Obeyan 1620, owned by Al Wasmiya, trained by Abdulla Kuwaiti and to be ridden by Alberto Sanna, is the best bet to win the Al Rouda Cup for Arabian horses which carries a cash prize of BD2,500 and to be run over 1,800 metres, starting at 3.50pm.
Krayaan 1646 and Al Saqlawy 1578 are the second and third favourites respectively.
The race for the Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla Al Khalifa which carries a cash prize of BD2,000 and to be run over 1,600 metres, starting at 4.15pm, has attracted the biggest field of 15 horses.
Emerald, owned by Late A Rasool K Darwish Stable, trained by Abdulla Haj and to be ridden by Gerald Avranche, looks in best shape to win this race ahead of its nearest challengers Feed The Goater and Shura Council.
Celtic Man, owned by Ramadhan Stable, trained by Jaber Ramadhan and to be ridden by Brett Doyle, is the favourite to win the Zaid bin Theeb Kobra Group Industry and Trade Cup for imported horses which carries a cash prize of BD3,000 and to be run over 1,200 metres, starting 4.40pm.
Curtain Call and Bazaruto are expected to give the favourite a run for its money.
