Filmmaker S.S. Rajamoulis magnum opus 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion' has stormed its way into the theatres.
The magnum opus war drama film opened to a tremendous response in India as it raked-in approximately 41 crore in the Hindi dubbed version and 80 cr after combining the collections of Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam versions.
Making a total of 121 crore on Day 1, 'Baahubali: The Conclusion' proved to be the highest first day grosser in the history of domestic box-office.
Despite being released on a non-holiday, 'Baahubali 2' broke the record of Salman Khan’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo which garnered Rs 40.35 cr on its first Friday.
With its release in over 6500 screens in India and over 9000 screens across the world - the highest for an Indian film till date - 'Baahubali 2' is setting new records at the box office.
The numbers are out and they are as per the expectations. The film has become the first in history to cross the 100 crore nett mark on day one.
Trade analysts mention that though the exact numbers are to be revealed soon, the estimates are as follows:
Hindi Markets - Rs.35,00,00,000; Nizam / Andhra - Rs.45,00,00,000; Tamil Nadu - Rs.14,00,00,000; Karnataka - Rs.10,00,00,000; Kerala - Rs.4,00,00,000
The closing numbers for the Hindi version of the film are in the 35-40 crore nett range. However trade pundits mention that the numbers are likely to go up tomorrow.
The news is that the numbers are likely to reach up to 115 crore or even 120 crore nett.
The film, released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam, features Prabhas, Anushka Shetty, Rana Daggubati and Tamannaah in the lead.
According to movie reviews on several media platforms, 'Baahubali 2' is grander than its prequel with incredible visual effects, high voltage drama, strong plot and some mind-blowing fighting sequences.
A major reason behind such a massive demand for the film is the response that 'Baahubali: The Beginning' got when it released in July 2015. The film minted over Rs 600 crore and left fans amazed and wanting the answer to one question - why did Kattappa kill Baahubali?
'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion' is unlikely to meet any competition in theatres for the next two weeks.
