Geneva: Bahrain’s development strides have been hailed by a top UN official. Geneva-based Global Institute for Water, Environment and Health secretary-general Dr Nidal Salim hailed Bahrain’s progress and its earnest efforts to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) under His Majesty King Hamad Reform Project.

He made the statement on the sidelines of the 27th session of the Human Rights Council’s Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Working Group in Geneva.

He also commended Bahrain’s implementation of its international obligations concerning development as well as economic, social and cultural rights in accordance with the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, which the Kingdom ratified in 2006.
