Manama: A new board led by Ahmad Alsaloom as chairman has been elected by the Bahrain Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Development Society.
Khalaf Hujair is the vice-chairman, with Abdul Karim Al Rashid, Nofal Al Kooheji, Adel Al Safar, Khulood Abdul Qadir and Dr Fadheela Hussain as members, said a statement issued after the society’s annual general meeting (AGM) which saw the election of the new board for 2015-2017.
Other key office bearers appointed include Ammar Awachi as secretary, Ahmed Khalfan as treasurer, Suhair Bukhammas as head of markets committee, and Dr Fadheela Hussein as head of clinics and medical centres development committee.
The AGM reviewed the financial statements for the past two years, which were duly approved and board members were elected in the presence of a representative of the Social Development Ministry.
The chairman and new board members have thanked honorary chairman Farouk Almoayed for his continued support towards the society and its initiatives.
The Bahrain SMEs Development Society was established in 2013 with the aim of supporting the Economic Vision 2030 which encourages youth in pioneering business and the development of private projects and to grow it in a business- friendly environment.
This is in order to be the catalyst for the growth of the economic sector.
The society plans to sign a number of agreements and partnerships with government bodies and private sector entities in order to promote entrepreneurship among youth and foster a stimulating environment for sustainable growth.
