US President Donald Trump hosted Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and UAE Armed Forces Deputy Supreme Commander Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for their first face-to-face meeting since Trump took office.
According to Al Bayan newspaper, President Trump called Shaikh Mohammed a "very special person" who loves his country and loves the US.
The Abu Dhabi Crown Prince hailed the strong bilateral relations and long-standing alliance and strategic partnership binding the UAE and the United States.
The two sides reviewed strategic relations, regional and international issues, focusing particularly on interference in the region, which subverts security in the Middle East, Syria and Libya.
President Trump and Shaikh Mohammed discussed efforts to root out terrorism and exchanged views on the security of the Arab Gulf region, crises unfolding in the Middle East and counter-terrorism.
