Five Saudi nationals were rewarded for returning precious artefacts and leading the authorities to archaeological sites, according to Al Riyadh newspaper.
The Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH) awarded them SR100,000 each in recognition of their efforts to protect archaeological remains.
The SCTH officials had launched a campaign to encourage people to return artefacts to the authorities and engaging them in protecting sites.
The artefacts included rare relics dating back 4000BC in Tabuk region, in addition to coins from different Islamic eras.
