Colombo: Opener Cheteshwar Pujara ran out of partners to post an unbeaten on 145 as India was dismissed for 312 in its first innings on the third day of the third test against Sri Lanka on Sunday.
Pujara, brought in to replace injured Murali Vijay, who missed the third match due to an injury, faced 289 deliveries in his knock and hit 14 boundaries.
He and Amit Mishra (59) and shared a 104-run eighth wicket stand after India lost seven wickets for just 180.
Sri Lankan seam bowler Dhammika Prasad took four wickets for 100 runs while spinner Rangana Herath took three wickets.
