Shocking pictures from a traditional Nepalese festival have emerged that have caused an uproar across the world and infuriated animal rights activists.
The festival takes place in the village of Khokana and, in a display of what can only be described as naked brutality, a live goat is thrown into a pond and is bitten, strangled and pulled limb from limb by several villagers till it dies.
There are several teams of men who compete to kill the young female goat as the winner gets to lead the procession of the festival that year.
The 900-years-old Deopokhari festival has continued despite protests from the international community.
