Manama: Sixteen times WWE world champion, movie star and top television celebrity John Cena may celebrate his honeymoon in Bahrain.
He proposed to his long-time girlfriend and former women's world champion Nikki Bella last month at a wrestling extravaganza, Wrestlemania, but is yet to reveal a wedding date.
Muharraq Municipal Council chairman Mohammed Al Sinan revealed Cena was considering Bahrain as a honeymoon venue, at the council’s weekly meeting on Sunday.
He said that it reflected Bahrain’s rise as a top tourist destination in the world, urging officials to work harder towards getting more investments, events and attractions to the country.
“Bahrain is on the map thanks to the Formula One, the Fifa Congress, the Spring of Culture as it offers things of value to tourists and visitors knowing that around nine million visit the country annually through entry points with it set to increase to 14 million whenever the expansion at Bahrain International Airport is complete,” he said.
“For Cena to consider Bahrain as a destination for his honeymoon, it reflects that we are stealing the show in regard to glamorous weddings and honeymoons, not forgetting that a glamorous Indian wedding between two business families was held recently in Bahrain.
“There has to be more work towards getting more investments, events and attractions to the country to further build on the tourist boom we are witnessing.”
