Ahmed Riyaan defeated Hajar Zaidan 7-3, 7-2 to win the eight-and-under title of the BTA Junior Tennis Tournament, organised by Bahrain Tennis Academy (BTA), at Dilmun Club in Saar.
In the play-off for the third-place medal, Abdulaziz Al Betairi battled past Hashim Al Toobli, coming from behind to win 5-7, 7-5, 7-4.
Earlier, in the semi-finals, Ahmed defeated Abdulaziz 10-7 while Hajar overcame Hashim 10-2.
Ahmed and Hajar topped their respective groups while Hashim and Abdulaziz claimed the other two semi-final slots. The round-robin stage concluded with all participants receiving a certificate for their efforts.
Players took part in a round-robin format competition in two groups, after which the top two players from each group progressed to the semi-finalists.
BTA and Tournament Director Dan Barrie said: “We saw some great action from our youngest competitors, particularly in the final where several high-quality rallies exceed 20 shots.”
