THE first of 10 cars as prizes in the Third Nasser bin Hamad Ramadan Sports Games “Nasser 10” will be raffled tonight during the last two matches of the second round of the group stage.
It’s worth noting that 10 cars will be raffled throughout the event as per the directives of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa. This year’s prizes are the biggest since the launch of the event ten years ago.
In today’s matches, Batelco Gunners United and Frsan Palace Hotel will be eying early qualification to the last eight round by amassing another three points each when they face Al Ahlam and Nomas respectively.
The first match, between Batelco Gunners United and Al Ahlam will be played at 9pm while the other game at 11:15 at Khalifa Sports City Football Stadium.
Batelco Gunners United are tipped to win their match and secure their berth in the quarter-finals. They are also among the favourites to win the tournament.
Majestic Cars coach Salah Habib blamed ‘lack of preparations’ for his side’s early exit from Nasser 10 after they lost their first two matches.
He, however, praised the efforts of his players and regretted the absence of a powerful striker to score goals for his team.
Mohsen Radhi of Al Suqoor Al Bahrain affirmed that his team deserved their second victory against Majestic Cars, underlining that the team is now eying to reach the final of the tournament after qualifying to the last eight stage.
Since the decision to allow professional players to participate in Nasser Football Tournament in its eighth edition, the event has entered a new era.
In this year’s event, many professional players are performing greatly, including Cristian of Al Nawayef who scored a decisive goal against Forever.
Meanwhile, Bahrain Olympic Committee general secretary Abdulrahman Askar said the event has achieved tremendous success, thanks to the interest and follow up of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and president of Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC).
He branded the event as a big national project accommodating youth and allowing them to showcase their talents.
He considered organising the event for 10 consecutive years as a significant achievement, stating that many talents have been discovered thanks to the event.
Askar praised the High Organising Committee which is composed of Bahraini cadres for making the event reach such high levels.
