A grand mosque named Sultan Qaboos ibn Said of Oman will be opened on Friday at the Wilayat of Al Suwaiq, in North Al Batina Governorate, according to the Oman Daily Observer.
The Omani leader assigned the Minister of Housing Shaikh Saif bin Mohammed bin Saif Al Shaibi to inaugurate the religious milestone which was built on a land covering 37,558 square metres.
The grand mosque, which has a covered area of 5,750 square metres, will accommodate more than 2,600 worshippers, in addition to a women-only prayer hall for 300 people.
It features green spaces, a spacious car park, Quran learning classrooms, a 32-metre high dome and two minarets, each 48 metres high.
