Alexandria: A newly-constructed 13-floor apartment building leaned on dangerously in the main avenue in eastern Alexandria.
The authorities cordoned off the area, evacuated all adjacent buildings and cut off gas and electricity supplies to enable the Egyptian army to raze the leaning structure to the ground, reported Al-Masry al-Youm.
Alexandria Governor Mohamed Sultan announced that an inquiry had been launched into the collapsing building, adding that lawbreakers would be held accountable and referred to trial promptly.
