Manama: A woman, afraid that someone would hear her illegitimate new-born baby's cries after she gave birth in an airport bathroom, allegedly suffocated him to death, a court heard today.

The Indonesian woman appeared at the High Criminal Court to plead not guilty to premeditated murder.

However, she previously contradicted herself in front of prosecutors when she said that she did not want to kill her child but admitted to placing him inside a closed plastic bag and gagging him with tissues.

She also said that she initially forgot to block his nose with tissues after she panicked.
