Paul McCartney once punched Eddie Vedder in the face

Press Trust of India

Los Angeles:  Musician Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam has said he was once punched by legendary singer Paul McCartney in the face.

The 52-year-old singer-songwriter has revealed The Beatles star had demonstrated his left jab in the corner of a hotel bar somewhere in Seattle, when he accidentally caught him in the way, reported Billboard.

"He hit me. He didn't quite pull back the punch you see.

As I was listening I was thinking, Paul McCartney just hit me in the face and it hurt.

"I think I remember tasting a bit of blood, he got me right on the side... and he apologised quickly so it wouldn't get in the way of the story," recalled Vedder in an interview aired on SiriusXM's Beatles Channel.

The "Hard Sun" singer said it was "a fascinating story, a great time in my life actually" to be thrashed by a living legend like McCartney.

"And I remember it hurt for a few days and I remember when it went away when the pain subsided and the swelling went down, I kinda missed it," he added.
