KHK MMA fighters representing the Bahrain National Team secured gold and three bronze medals at the 2017 IMMAF Asian Open Championships in Singapore.
Hussain Abdulla, Nayef Fikri and Abbas Khan had won bronze medals in their respective categories while Abdulmanap Magomedov has secured the gold medal. Yousif Al Kooheji, Mohammed Saad and Eldar Eldarov were accompanying the team as key officials representing Bahrain.
Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa Mixed Martial Arts (KHK MMA) is an initiative under the leadership of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa to popularise the sport of mixed martial arts and to promote a healthy lifestyle among the youth. With multiple victories in mixed martial arts events, Bahrain has gained global attention as an emerging hub for combat sports.
"The success of the Bahrain National Team speak volumes about how successful this initiative is and we have high hopes for the future events." said Mohammed Shahid, CEO of KHK MMA and President of Brave Combat Federation.
Bahrain will be the only nation other than the United States of America to host the World Championships of Amateur MMA.
World Championships will feature amateur mixed martial artists from around the world competing at the most recognised championship supported by premium fight promotions.
