THE government has been given until tomorrow to respond to demands put forth by legislators so that the national budget for 2017-2018, delayed by more than seven months, can be approved by July 16.
The demands include amending a bill submitted on Sunday to withdraw BD200 million from the Future Generations Fund, which saves $1 from each barrel of oil exported, to either a loan or bonds, pulling out BD100m given as a grant to national carrier Gulf Air and prioritising spending on infrastructure projects rather than on lavish and luxury projects .
