The UAE Ambassador to Washington Yousef Al Otaiba has denied his country’s involvement in any hacking of the Qatari news agency, according to Al Bayan newspaper.
He refuted a report by The Washington Post that claims some US officials believe the country “orchestrated the hacking of Qatari government news and social media sites in order to post false quotes attributed to Qatar’s emir” in late May.
The Washington-based UAE embassy denied the allegations and posted a series of tweets early on Monday morning in which it said that “the @washingtonpost story is false. UAE had no role whatsoever in the alleged hacking described in the article”.
