Lagoona Beach Resort came back from 3-1 down to beat Gulf Hotel 8-4 in the preliminary round of the Second Hotels Futsal Championship 2017 held at Bahrain Club Sports Hall in Muharraq.
The K Hotel also registered a win after crushing Swiss-Bell Hotel 18-4.
Ahmed Al Omari scored four goals to spark Lagooona’s fightback on way to victory.
Gulf Hotel led 3-1 in the first 15 minutes with Raed Mayouf, Sayed Mohammed and Mohammed Jaffar hitting a goal each, while Lagoona scored through Deepu Badathoki.
However, Lagoona – one of the title favourites – came back and hit two goals, courtesy of Ahmed Al Omari and Ebrahim Mahmood, as the first half ended at 3-3.
Lagoona continued their pressure and got their performance back, with Al Omari firing three goals in the second half, along with Badathoki who scored twice to lead their team to victory. Gulf Hotel’s solitary goal in the final half came from Ali Ebrahim.
Lagoona now have seven points from two wins and one draw to secure a spot in the semi-final, while Gulf Hotel lost their third match and remained without points.
The K Hotel scored their biggest win so far in the tournament at the expense of Swiss-Bell Hotel.
Heroics
Murtadha Kamal hit eight goals while Qassim Hassan, Ali Habib and Dillie Lampo added five, three and one, respectively, for The K Hotel. An own goal by a Swiss-Bell defender completed their runaway win.
Scoring for Swiss-Bell were Bui Dinh Vu who had two goals, and Hesham Mohsen and Raju Miah who had one each.
The win was The K Hotel’s first after three defeats, while Swiss-Bell Hotel lost their third game in a row.
