Dubai Hospital entered the Guinness Book of World Records after removing the heaviest kidney in the world.
The left kidney which was removed from an Emirati man aged 56, weighed 6.10 kilogrammes with a length of 34. The two kidneys have a combined weight of 13 kilogrammes – as the right kidney weighed 6.95kg.
The previous record was detained by Shirpur-based woman whose kidney weighed 2.14 kilograms with a length of 33.7 centimetres, breadth of 14.14 cms and thickness of 15.05 cms.
A normal kidney would weigh 15 gms and have a length of 12 centimetres.
The left kidney was registered officially in the Guinness Book of World Records with a weight of 4.25kg after it was emptied of the liquids at the department of anatomy.
