Kuwait City: The Civil Defence firefighting units have put out a huge fire which broke out in a paper factory in the Al Ahmadi industrial zone, reported Al Qabas.
Five firefighting units from Al-Fuhaihal, Al-Ahmadi, Mubarak Al-Kabir and Meshraf centres battled to contain the blaze which gutted 9 shops out of 53 outlets which cover a combined 4,000 square metres.
Six firemen who suffered asphyxiation due to the columns of black smoke were treated at the scene while others were taken to Al Eidan hospital.
An inquiry was launched into the causes of the blaze.
The Amir of Kuwait Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah commended the Interior and the Health ministry, in addition to the Kuwait Fire Services Directorate (KFSD) for their efforts in putting out the blaze.
