The four countries boycotting Qatar have designated nine emergency corridors for Qatari planes.
The move was taken in coordination between civil aviation authorities in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt, and the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
An official source from the UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority, said, “The move underlines our commitment to regional aviation safety.”
“Nine corridors have been identified including one in international air space over the Mediterranean sea that will be monitored by the Egyptian authorities,” the source said.
The source said that the action comes within the authority’s commitment to maintaining the security and integrity of airspaces and implementing the UAE’s decision to sever diplomatic and consular relations with Qatar and prevent it from using its airspaces.
