Dubai: The huge fire which ripped through Torch tower skyscraper in Dubai has damaged 64 floors, according to Emarat Alyoum.
The blaze which broke out at the 1,105-foot tall high-rise building has gutted 38 out of 676 flats which make up the 87-storey tower, said the Dubai Civil Defence.
Only floors 83 and 84 suffered minor interior damages due to the blaze which was finally put out.
Dubai police commander-in-chief Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri said that 475 people have been evacuated from the tower and lodged in three neighbouring hotels.
He commended UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Dubai Ruler Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum and Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Shaikh Said bin Zayed Al-Nahyan for following up efforts to contain the blaze.
