Hundreds of tenants who were evacuated from Torch Tower which caught fire last Thursday night have been lodged in the area of Dubai Marina, according to Al Ittihad newspaper.
This follows directives from UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Dubai Ruler Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to provide them with accommodation in neighbouring hotels.
UAE Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan also gave similar directives.
Dubai Police Commander-in-Chief and Head of Crises and Disasters Emergency Team Major-General Khalifa Al Marri said that 475 people had been lodged in three hotels in Dubai Marina.
The Civil Defence Units put out the fire and then searched 597 flats in the tower to ensure all tenants’ safety.
