Twenty-five drivers in the UAE have been fined AED1,000 each, in one week, for gawping at accidents, which disrupted traffic, according to Emarat Al Youm newspaper.
The new “gawping” violation has been included in the amended law on traffic which was issued a few months ago.
“Such a habit reflects indifference as gawping drivers block rescue teams and ambulances and disrupt the flow of cars,” said Dubai Police Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operation Affairs, head of the UAE Federal Traffic Council Major-General Mohammed Saif Al Zafin.
