Al Faisaly Sports Club of Jordan will not be able to take part in the Arab Clubs Championship for the next five years, according to Al Bayan newspaper.
The Union of Arab Football Associations (UAFA) chaired by Prince Turki bin Khalid bin Faisal Al Saud, slapped the ban on the Jordanian team in the wake of the recent championship finale, which ended in chaos.
Al Faisaly players and administrative staff assaulted Egyptian international referee Ibrahim Noureddine after losing to Esperance Sportif de Tunis 3-2 in the final which was played in Alexandria.
The Arab union has also suspended a number of Al Faisaly players and fined them.
The Asian Football Confederation will also be notified about the incidents which marred the match so as to enforce disciplinary measures on the Jordanian players.
