Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and Honorary President of Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities, congratulated His Majesty the King for Bahrain’s achievements in the recently concluded 2017 IAAF World Championships in London.
Bahrain ended their campaign with an impressive haul of two medals, one gold and one silver, to finish 12th in the overall medal race and first among Arab country participants.
The gold was won by Rose Chelimo in the women’s marathon, while the silver was claimed by Salwa Eid Naser in the women’s 400m.
Shaikh Khalid also congratulated HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the Wife of His Majesty the King and the Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Women, and Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee.
Shaikh Khalid dedicated the victory to HM the King for his support and care to the youth and sports paving the way for Bahrain’s unprecedented achievements in tournaments abroad. He also praised Shaikh Nasser for setting up the road map to develop all sports federations, including Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities, and his continuous efforts to support Bahraini athletes.
