Los Angeles: The directors of "This Is Us", Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, are in final negotiations to direct an untitled movie project revolving on Batman villains, Joker and Harley Quinn.
The duo will also pen the script of the film, wherein Jared Leto and Margot Robbie are due to reprise their roles as the antagonists, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Leto and Robbie first portrayed these characters in "Suicide Squad".
As per insiders, the venture will move forward after the studio makes a sequel to the 2016 movie. The latter is on the development fast-track and out to directors.
But the untitled Joker and Quinn film is also gaining speed as Warner Bros has to talk with actors' holding agreements, say sources.
The film is being described as a "criminal love story," according to a source, featuring the two murdering maniacs.
Ficarra and Requa are also credited for directing "Crazy, Stupid, Love" (2011).
