Hackers may target corporates with their new blackmail tactic

Cyber security experts in Bahrain said corporates could become the targets of a new tactic being used by hackers to blackmail people.

Demanding a "ransom" in bitcoins, hackers have targeted people in the region by sending them a link by email which when clicked directed them to adult sites.

Attackers then collected the search history of the Internet user and infected the computer with a virus which took a shot of the screen and the individual’s face through the camera.

Cyber Threat Management 360 founder Mirza Baig said they dealt with cases that happened on August 25 and 26 during which Internet users in the GCC were targeted.
