THE Bahrain Fencing Federation (BFF) will be organising the World Junior Fencing (‘Epee’) Championship on September 30 and October 1 this year.
Seventeen countries have confirmed their participation and they are Egypt, Belgium, Switzerland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Australia, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, Lebanon, India, Estonia, Denmark, United Kingdom, Kazakhstan, Kirghisthan and hosts Bahrain.
A few more countries are expected to register in the coming days.
BFF president Shaikh Ibrahim bin Salman Al Khalifa will head the high organising committee while Jassim Al Dossary will be his deputy. Other office bearers are Saleh Faraj (director), Rashid Al Madhaki (head of technical committee), Nahed Al Afnan (head of protocol committee), Fawaz Al Abdulla (head of public relations and media), Nisreen Salah (head of International Relations) and Ibrahim Huwaishel (head of financial committee).
The last year’s championship was also held in Bahrain with 49 players from 14 countries taking part. The event was held under the patronage of Representative of His Majesty for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, chairman of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and president of Bahrain Olympic Committee Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
Switzerland were crowned as the champions of last year’s event.
