THE Union of Arab National Olympic Committees’ Arab Sport Pioneers Association (ASPA) course ended on Wednesday at S Hotel in Seef area.
Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) board member and Women’s Sport Committee chairwoman Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa patronised the closing ceremony of this five-day gathering which saw a group of highly-qualified academics from all over the Arab region taking part.
Dr Mohammed Ruwaished of Saudi Arabia made the closing remarks and thanked the BOC for its contributions in making the event a big success.
He also invited Shaikh Isa bin Rashid Al Khalifa, first vice-chairman of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and BOC honorary president, to become the ASPA honourary president.
On behalf of the participants, Dr Aziz Kareem of Iraq thanked both the ASPA, BOC and Shaikha Hayat, and all speakers for their contributions.
Later, Shaikha Hayat presented a commemorative gift to BOC, which was received by its sports affairs executive director Abduljalil Asad.
The course held discussions related to sport professionalism as well as its requirements, regulations, rights, duties and the effect of sport professionalism on an athlete’s life.
