RIYADH: Saudi authorities have banned a cleric from preaching after he referred to women as being “deficient in reason and religion”.
Asir Governor Prince Faisal bin Khalid Al Saud ordered the clamp after an angry backlash on social media over the lecture given at a mosque in Khamis Mushait in the province, spokesperson and supervisor of media affairs for the region, Saad bin Abdulla Al Thabet, said.
The ban aims to prevent attempts to utilise religious platforms to raise issues that belittle human beings and don’t serve the national interest, he pointed out.
