An Iranian runaway convict was caught as he was attempting to flee to his country, according to Al Rai newspaper.
The man was indicted in a drug-smuggling case in Kuwait and sentenced to ten years in jail in absentia.
Police officers in Failaka Island arrested him before he could leave the country and referred him to authorities in charge of enforcing criminal verdicts.
He told the police that another man helped him run to the island and told him to find a way to escape to Iran. The police are now looking for the accomplice.
