Riyadh: Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud inaugurated a string of mega-projects valued at SR 11 billion as part of the New Taif development scheme.
The Saudi leader gave the go-ahead for the infrastructure projects, which include the new Taif airport, Souq Okaz City, the oasis of technology, the residential suburb, the industrial city and the University City.
The King was briefed by Advisor to Governor of Makkah provision Dr. Saad Mohammad Mareq on the landmark projects, located to the North-East of the current city of Taif on an area covering up to 1250 square kilometres.
The New Suq Okaz City will cover 10 million square metres, in an investment project valued at SR8 billion. The Saudi authorities estimate that the new cultural and economic project would create 12,000 jobs and attract more than 2 million tourists annually.
