Expatriate workers paid at least OMR300 monthly are required to submit evidence of rental contracts and salary slips in case they want to benefit from the new family reunion visa procedures, according to Shabiba newspaper.
In a clarification statement posted on its twitter account, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) said that a form from the Ministry of Manpower and a salary deposit for at least the past three months would be required.
The ROP statement said that the expatriate worker who wants to benefit from the new family visa regulations must have a residence rented under his/her name or the name of the employer.
The statement pointed out that rental contracts would be consulted by the appropriate authority for confirmation.
The decision of bringing down minimum salary from OMR600 down to OMR300 was described by the business community as an important measure to revitalise the Omani economy.
Shura Council member Ahmed Saif Al Barwani was among those who backed the measure, saying that an estimated $4.3 billion are transferred abroad by expatriates in remittances.
