Serious doubts surround the organisation of the 38th Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) Summit in December in Kuwait.
Sources expect the cancellation of the annual summit amid the continuing GCC crisis, said Elaph digital newspaper.
Diplomatic efforts have so far failed to defuse the crisis, which reduces the chances of holding the summit in Kuwait.
The same sources said that the summit could be held in Riyadh, Saudi, with Qatar being absent.
According to Washington-based senior sources cited by Elaph, some Gulf countries are already planning to set a new Gulf body with three countries as a start.
A study released by the London-based International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) showed that the GCC is in the process of self-disintegration due to the worsening crises.
The IISS study said that the current GCC entitiy faces two options: either a five-member council without Qatar or the total disintegration of the only stable regional institution.
