Manama: The Foreign Ministry yesterday condemned the suicide bombings in Somalia – the worst attack in the country to date with at least 230 deaths.
The ministry expressed its condolences to families of the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery. The ministry also affirmed Bahrain’s support for Somalia in its war against all terrorist and extremist organisations.
More than 275 people have been injured after a truck bomb targeted a crowded street near key government ministries, including foreign affairs.
Many of the bodies in mortuaries had not yet been identified, authorities said. Somalia’s government blamed the Al Qaeda-linked Al Shabab extremist group for what it called a “national disaster”.
