New US strategy ‘to boost security’

A NEW US strategy on Iran announced by President Donald Trump will strengthen regional security, the Premier said yesterday.

He was speaking as he met outgoing US Ambassador William Roebuck at Gudaibiya Palace.

The Premier underlined the importance of the strategy in boosting security and backing counterterrorism efforts to ensure a better life in the region.

He praised the efforts of the US ambassador in bolstering co-operation, and wished him success in his future duties.

The Prime Minister affirmed that the Bahraini-US relations are based on mutual respect and a keen desire to build a strong and distinguished model of co-operation and understanding on issues of common interest.

He stressed the outstanding and ever-growing historic relations between both countries thanks to mutual keenness to foster them and serve common interests.

He also underscored the need to further promote bilateral co-operation to bolster regional security and achieve common aspirations, mainly in the economic, commercial and investment fields.

The US ambassador thanked the Premier for his keenness to strengthen relations.

He also commended co-operation of all government institutions.
