US: Mother 'killed' her two toddlers by putting them in an oven and turning it on

A woman in Georgia has been charged with murder for placing her one-year-old Ja’Karter Penn and two-year-old Ke-Yaunte Penn in the hot oven.

Atlanta police said in the statement that the mother, Lamora Williams, 24 placed the kids in the oven somewhere between midnight Thursday and 11pm Friday.

The toddlers were found on Friday night with burnt marks on their bodies although authorities are waiting to determine the cause of death.

“My daughter is a sick person if she did what I think she did,” Williams’s mother, Brenda Williams, told CBS affiliate WGCL earlier this week.

“Mora wasn’t right, she hasn’t been right and what happened three months ago, that the kids’ father left her, I told him something tragic is going to happen. She’s going to do something to those kids, she’s going to do something to herself,” she added.

The father of all three children, Jameel Penn, says Williams called him by video chat Friday night to tell him his children were dead. Penn says he called police after seeing his sons on the floor.

Williams’ sister, Tabitha Hollingsworth, says Williams should be put on suicide watch in the Fulton County jail.

According to reports, the 24-year-old mother had to quit her job because she couldn’t find a baby sitter and she had 'had enough'.
