Some heated battles are expected to light up the track at the FIA WEC Six Hours of Bahrain to be held on November 20 and 21 at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir.
The endurance racing spectacle is the eighth and final round of this year’s FIA World Endurance Championship, and there may be plenty to fight for in the highly anticipated season finale just a few weeks away.
One of the more interesting title fights is for the World Endurance Manufacturers’ Championship.
Competing in their Le Mans Prototype 1 (LMP1) Hybrids, German outfits Porsche and Audi are currently in the running for the coveted crown.
Defending champions Toyota have already bowed out of contention along with Nissan, who have withdrawn from competing over the remainder of the WEC season.
With three rounds to go in Japan, China and Bahrain, Porsche are in the lead on 220 points.
One of their two cars have won the last three of the season’s races held in France, Germany and the US, after finishing the season’s opening two events in the UK and Belgium as runners-up.
Audi were triumphant in those first two rounds, but have yet to beat their chief rivals from there. They are 36 points behind on the standings with 184.
Last year’s champions Toyota have only made it onto the podium once this season. They have 101 points to show for their efforts.
Nissan, on the other hand, have gone back to the drawing board to prepare for a more competitive LMP1 campaign in 2016.
Heated
With so much action expected between the WEC’s LMP1 teams, there will also be lots of heated competition between entrants in the other car categories, including the Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2), the Le Mans Grand Touring Endurance Pro (LMGTE Pro) and LMGTE Amateur (LMGTE Am).
